Vodacom Park

Vodacom Park is a M80 million investment and a green building that features more than 25% electricity generation, solar screening and passive cooling system. The building minimise its impact on climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions generated by its operation. It was constructed and handed over to Vodacom Lesotho in 2017. The three-storey 3 631 m2 has an adaptable design customized to offer a suitable modern working environment for the client.


Sekhametsi Place

Sekhametsi Place, former Agric Bank, was acquired in 2017 refurbished and rebranded. The property is a thirteen storey high-rise building, strategically located on Kingsway. The building will be fully constructed in the future to be a prominent feature of the city’s urban skyline.



Moruo Developments (Pioneer Mall)

The advent of Pioneer Mall transformed the purchase experience of Basotho and opened up untapped revenue streams in the commercial property space. Sekhametsi is proud shareholder in Stanlib Lesotho the largest asset management service in the country with over M5 Billion worth of assets under its management.

Letshego

The company also holds a stake in Letshego Financial Services, a micro financing institution that provides appropriate and accessible consumer, microfinance and savings solutions to the financially under-served, thus delivering on the inclusive finance agenda.

Textiles


The textile and apparel industry, manufacturing are the leading industries globally and remain the engine of growth in GDP and job creation in Lesotho. Basotho own only two of the 40 textile factories in Lesotho. This presents an incredible investment and indigenization opportunity. Sekhametsi purchased 30% of locally owned textile producer Afri-Expo for M10million. The sector is laden with further economic opportutntites that can be harnessed from development of a more sustainable and circular textile value chain to support the related creative sub-sectors. SMIC intends to further increase its footprint in the textile industry to spur additional jobs for Basotho, expand the country’s export base and contribute to economic growth.

Telecommunications


With only two network operators in Lesotho, Sekhametsi is proud to be shareholder in the largest mobile operator in Lesotho. Vodacom Lesotho (VCL) commands a market share of 1,35 million subscribers. VCL also owns Mpesa, which is the preferred mobile money platform in the country with 830,000 active customers. The interest in Vodacom has been a game changer and kept SMIC ahead of the investment curve. Vodacom has made transformational investments worth Billions of Maloti in infrastructure developments through its 300 base stations, leasing of Vodacom Park, SMEs vending business opportunities and the hundreds of Basotho in its employ in outlets across the country.
