Sekhametsi subscribes to the principle of environmental, social and governance (ESG). It has adopted the principles into its business ethics and compliance frameworks to create business value for the shareholders and the public. SMIC implores its investee companies and affiliates to apply the principles at all times to maintain high levels of business integrity. This is important to ensure that SMIC plays a part through its investments to build a better Lesotho for current and future generations.
Socio-economic
Sekhametsi Development Trust (SDT) was duly established in 2014 to implement the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Programme on behalf of SMIC. The Trust key focus areas are the community, health, education and the environment. The support is delivered through direct or collaborative impact initiatives targeted at communities, social enterprises, marginalized and vulnerable groups and the less privileged.
